Earlier this year I wrote an article comparing three major cloud hosting providers.
I ended up concluding that one of the three had the best offering and that was Vultr. You’ll probably see banners for Vultr around my site; that’s my referral link. I still highly recommend them.
- On a side note, Vultr just increased the amount of RAM you get with the $5/mo package to 1024MB (1GB) …much better!
Anyways!
Now i’m seeing this $2.50/mo package. You get 1 CPU and 512MB of RAM. 500GB of transfer.
They refer to this as the Sandbox plan. I am really excited to see an offering so cheap with Vultr.
I am very happy with how Vultr is geo-located and other things I outlined in my comparison of three major cloud hosting providers, so consider using Vultr next time you want to spin up a VPS real quick, and save yourself some money while you’re at it!!
(Linode is still trying to bill my card $0.44 for the charges I incurred during the aforementioned article. Oops.)

Notably, Vultr have been sold out for this plan for months – and it is limited to max two per account. It also doesn’t have the same service level guarantees as their other plans.
